Robert - I just went to the NGH site and read the thread. Yes, finding the ISE is very important, and dealing with it is essential (just modifying a smoking script won't do it). |

How are you doing my friend and thanks for the request, I hope everything it's all good at your end. |

Hey George |

Hello George |
|
|
Hi George, You popped up in me e mail as wanting to be a friend on my site. I must admit I haven't got to grips with blogs yet and still not sure how to use it! |

My pleasure Cal. As I become the exceptional hypnotist that I intend to be, I know you have been a big part of my success. |

Hi George - thanks for the congrats - it's appreciated.
Tom NicoliThe way I see things in our profession regardless of what the client comes in with is all the same. I use the same approach with all clients, though that approach can be diverse and sometimes a bit complex. I work and teach my students to be flexible and spontaneous while working from a basis of techniques, a few of which you have mentioned.
It's not what the client is doing but why they do it and the why is emotionally driven. Of course some direct suggestion after the emotional / feelings work is done helps reinforce along with metaphor, indirect and embedded suggestions. But I feel the key to it all is to find the subconscious emotional purpose / need / reason for the behavior, which as we know isn't logical as some people would like to believe.
I know my answer is difficult and most people in my classes, well actually almost all of them, find trouble with my response because they are looking for an A, B C - do this, then this and this model which I have found in my vast experience isn't how our work is done effectively.
Treat these clients just like you would anyone who is using a substance that is causing problems, just like the way an overweight person abuses / uses food. The better part of this is that the tobacco is foreign and not a necessity to the body unlike food.
My best,
Tom
